Fall According to my iPhone

Here is a little game. Below you will find a photo from my iPhone, followed by an interior space inspired by that photo.

This is my favorite time of year. There is no shortage of inspiration in brilliant colors, texture, shapes, and forms. So if you're not sure how to design your bedroom or living room or powder room, look around. Find your favorite setting, tree, beach view and take a cue. The redness of an apple. The muddled colors of a tree before the leaves fall. When you walk into a room that evokes a feeling, it is because it is connecting you with something. This is creativity. Making connections, threading the invisible threads.

Our favorite tree, right about at its peak (although it continues to surprise us with new colors everyday).

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences than other people.
